(You cannot teach a man anything; you can only help him find it within himself.)
Ever wondered that why stars blink, why earth never tired of rotating continuously, why every object falls down, does every object have the same speed of falling. I know all of you must know about it. It is very easy to perform experiments in this era of modern science but just thinks if you were born 500 years ago, it was not possible at all. Do you know from where and when it all started?
In ancient Europe, people used to believe in superstitions and did not want to face the truth
of science. The famous inclined building of PISA (Italy) didn’t use to come in
seven wonders of the world because the science behind that was growing with Galileo.
So let’s start to know about the legend Galileo Galilei who made the world full of science and its wonders.
Galileo Galilei-The father of modern
science:
Galileo Galilei the name who changed the way of
living the life with his thoughts and a new step
towards the science in ancient times about 1632 B.C.
in a city Pisa (Italy) in Europe. In 1632 an
incident (viral talk) occurred in Pisa that was
against the old bread thoughts about GOD, in the
church of Pisa there was a punishment were decided
for a man to go to jail because he told a
a new theory about the universe and the man was none
another but Galileo. Galileo claimed that
the earth, moon and many planets are there which
moving in a cycle by considering the Sun as
their center but this theory was totally against the
old thoughts that used to show that the
earth is
the king of every planet and everything surrounds the
earth, everything including the sun is rotating
around earth. Before Galileo people were used to be
superstitious but about 400 years after he
died the church in Vatican City, admitted in 1992 that he had made a mistake
in deciding
Galileo's case and
accepted their mistake.
Biography :
Galileo was born on 15 February 1564 in Pisa (Italy).
In his family, they were a total of six siblings.
His full name was Galileo di Vincenzo bonaulti de
Galilei, and he died in 1642 at the age of
77 in Arcetri, Grand Duchy of Tuscany. He was an
Italian astronomer, physicist, and engineer.
Galileo was the founder of observatory astronomy and
has been called the father of scientific
methods. He studied well about Speed, velocity, inertia, gravity and free fall, the principle of
relativity and
projectile motion. Galileo
was the inventor of telescope for scientific
observations and
military compasses.
Galileo said that the laws of nature are affected by an
another factor like the decrement and increment of a factor depends upon the relation of a
mathematical equation, he said that the language of God is nothing but mathematics. Galileo
was a spiritual person and wanted to prove the
spiritual culture with his experiments of science.
In 1609 Galileo got a telescope which was made in Holland
and on the basis of that telescope he
made his own telescope which was more superior than old
telescope. With that telescope he
learned about the motion of astronomical objects, on
the basis of his observations he proved that
all planets circulate around the Sun as Nicolaus Copernicus
said in his theories he was directly
supporting Copernicus. When Galileo decided to stand
against the old myths about the universe he
got punishment to be immurement in the jail, at the
time of his death Galileo was in the
incarceration in his own house only.
The concept of
Relativity:
When Galileo told about the rotation of the earth around
the Sun, people denied the theory and
made a laugh of him by telling that if the earth rotates
so we should fall down while jumping but we
still stands upon our feet, but Galileo set an example that if we are riding on a horse and drops a
a ball from our hand so that ball falls near the feet
of the horse not behind the horse, Galileo explained that speed is relative and told that the speed of
rider, horse, and ball is the same, the relative speed of a ball with respect to horse and rider is zero until
the rider drops the ball.
Likely he explained that we move and rotates with the Earth only hence the relative speed of us with respect to earth is zero hence we are stable and don’t feel any kind of change in our physical state. This was the base of Einstein’s thought of relativity concept and this is how modern science was born.

His courage to find the
speed of light:
Once Galileo and his associate went up to the peaks
of two different mountains with a lamp and
a switch along, to observe the speed of light. In
this experiment, Galileo light the lamp and
turned on his switch and his associate who was far
away on the other mountain, saw that light
and turned off his switch. They calculated the duration between the switch turned on and off and
as a result, he calculated the speed of light
traveled from one mountain to another mountain. This
the experiment was no so much success full and perfect
as he expected but the way he chooses was
very smart. I personally impressed and inspired by
this wonder-full thought, and you guys
should be motivated with the life of Galileo.
The Foundation of Galileo’s
curiosity for science:
when Galileo was just 17 years old one day he went
to the church and saw a chandelier which
was oscillation by the cause of wind he was continuously
seeing that chandelier and was
counting the period of oscillation by pressing his the pulse of one of his hand, suddenly the wind
became very fast and oscillations were increased but
the time period of oscillations were the same.
Galileo shocked by seeing this he thought that how
is this possible, he was continuously thinking
about that and he performed this experiment with his
friends by taking three pendulums of
different materials and by the same procedure (by
pressing his pulse) and he found that the
weight of pendulum also didn’t take effect on the time period of oscillations, after that he
increased the length of the rope and found that the length
of rope affects the time period of the
pendulum. And
from here only the first pendulum watch was created to observe the time,
this pendulum based the watch was there for 250 years after that, the needle watch was
created.
Honor:
The supreme institution of Christianity, always under the
supervision of the Pope, in the Vatican
City admitted in 1992 that he had made a mistake in deciding
Galileo's case. Thus, it took more
then three and a half years for the Church to accept its a historical mistake by ordering an order
issued in 1633 regarding Galileo, a great astronomer, mathematician,
physicist and philosopher. Four hundred years after the creation of
binoculars and the observation of celestial
his 400th birth anniversary and paid tribute to this
great scientist and tried to make a mistake.
Legacy:
When Einstein came to know about his theories and
researches he was very impressed after
seeing the solutions of the velocity of light and energy
relation, Einstein only gave the name ‘THE
FATHER OF MODERN SCIENCE’ to this great soul.
So this was the story
and struggle behind the legend Galileo Galilei, I personally impressed
by his decision-making
ability and his actions about what he thought he proved. We all
should be inspired by
his life and every step he took in order to perform experiments. I
believe that science never disappoint their colleagues, so keep doing keep going.
(All truths are easy to understand once they are discovered; the point is to discover them.)
